SXSW Adventures

Well, I just dragged myself back to work after a glorious vacation in Austin, Texas where I attended the SXSW music festival. The highlight of the festival (besides seeing one of my favorite bands, Spoon, for free) was definitely seeing the band She and Him. If you've been hiding under a rock somewhere, maybe you don't know that She and Him is made up of the gorgeous Zooey Deschanel and the effortlessly cool M. Ward.

Zooey is tied with Cate Blanchett in my heart for the title of "Favorite Actress." I was ecstatic to see her live and not 15 feet in front of me onstage. She is flawless and tiny in real life. Her outfit was cute, but way too hot/trendy for 94 degree weather (grey dress, light grey tights, dark grey knee-high leather boots). I stood in the blazing sun (and got way sunburned) for 40 minutes before she got her set going, but it was worth it. I saw more cool bands, ate a lot of tacos and queso, and drank more beer in 3 days than I do in an entire year. Thanks goes to my friends Mike and Darin who hosted me for the duration of my stay in Austin.
