I have been working on my fall shopping list for a while now. Usually, I have this cinched up in July, but I'm late to the game because finances are tight. However, I have been a very, very busy freelancer and a very thrifty young lady and I managed to secure some funds for clothes. This is happy news, indeed!
Finding the items on my list can be tricky for two reasons 1) I am very particular about what I buy as I prefer tailored cuts, and vintage items, and 2) I'm nearly 6 feet tall, so buying pants that fit well is like searching for the Holy Grail (perplexingly, I'm constantly being attacked by killer bunnies with razor-sharp fangs).
Here's my list so far:
Black and beige wide-leg pants for work
Ruffle-front blouse in jewel tones
Wide leg jeans
Plaid/lumberjack/grunge button down shirt - pref. vintage
Perfectly distressed leather (or faux-leather) jacket
Biker boots - must be lace up, must be tall
Oversized kooky rings
Sweater dress
Two-tone tights
Tuxedo jacket
Cardigans, lots and lots of slouchy grandpa cardigans
I know it's not terribly "in" for fall trends, but I'm really feeling grunge right now. I'm also in love with two-tone tights, thanks to inspiration from Chanel's F/W '08 runway collection.
Anyway, back to my original thought: I've been looking at streetwear trying to get some inspiration for how to wear new fall looks, and was feeling uninspired. That is, until I finally found what I was looking for over on Face Hunter, only my favorite street-style blog everrr.
Here are some looks that had me exclaiming, "yes, Yes, YES!" like Sally in the diner, sitting across from a bewildered and bemused Harry.

I could probably make a giant applique out of felt to sew onto a slouchy oversized sweater.

I love the artful draping of this chunky cable-knit black scarf.

Every detail from this look is perfection.

The only right way to wear harem pants.

That dainty dress with those patterned tights and giant stacked goth boots works so well, for some reason.

This look had me kvelling into my morning coffee. I blurbled my exclamation of joy, subsequently spilling said coffee on my silk work shirt. I love the drape of the fitted coat, which lets the skirt peek out in the back just so. It reminds me of an old-fashioned bustle. I want this entire outfit SO BAD.
These are the looks I'm really feeling for fall, along with the items I want to purchase. I was searching in vain all over the internets and blogs for good round-ups of fall fashion. I want to know what other people are wearing and/or buying for fall, but the trend lists were pretty lame. Maybe you think my list is lame too, but I don't care. I'll be rocking a fitted plaid top with a full pleated silk skirt, crazy patterned tights and biker boots and feeling swell.

Love the chunky scarf, the white & red stockings and all the shoes....
interesting list, though nobody's ever been able to sell me on the merits of harem pants. how are you planning to rock the tuxedo jacket? I could see it looking good over a little solid-colored shift
i love the girl wearing the black & white tights. very chanel with a twist!
