SJP is still all right with me

There seems to be a lot of love / hate surrounding Sex and the City and its star, Sarah Jessica Parker. I adore her, and I have no qualms with stating this fact. However, I have encountered people who have vehemently negative reactions towards her and towards the show. It's strange to me. I think of Sex and the City as a groundbreaking television show that paved the way for showcasing women in a positive way rather than resorting to the same-old same-old archetypes (whore, mother, bitch, etc.). The women in the show are complicated, funny, intelligent, and at times raw and emotional. I love that the show can portray women in a more realistic light, but also embrace the fashion and sex side of things. It's a hard balance to strike.

Anyway, it goes without saying (but here I go sayin' it!) that I adore Sarah Jessica Parker. I adore her for who she is in real-life and for her portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw. Fortunately for us die-hard fans, New York Mag put out a great interview with SJP. It's long, but it's a good read. Checkity-check it out!
