What's cookin, good lookin?

I kind of took a hiatus from the fashion world. I work a "corporate" job now. I am still writing about fashion professionally, but it wasn't paying the bills the way I had intended it to. So, in the interim (between now and when I get really really famous) I am wearing suits and dresses almost every day. It's a strange experience and I've found it hard to keep my unique look amongst all of the button-down shirts and high heels. I tend to go for outrageous accessories, but sometimes I still feel a little stifled by the corporate image. That is one reason I fell off the face of the planet. I also got tired with mentally competing with the hipster set. I just want to scream, "I shop at the thrift store, but I am not one of you, in fact, I was doing this when you were in middle school wearing Tazmanian Devil t-shirts without any sense of irony!"

One of these days I'm going to approach the whole thing sociologically and dissect the hipster mentality, but that seems like far too exhausting a task to tackle at this point in time. Why? Because I am moving! I am moving into an awesome new house and since I've gotten to paint and decorate the way I want, my house is going to look like one of those amazing spreads you see on trendy interior decorating blogs. Pictures will be happening v. soon, my loves.

Also, I am going back to school for a degree in fashion marketing. I am hoping to get a job at an up-and-coming design house. That would be amazing.

On to the good stuff: Since I have been severely out of the loop (barely even glanced at the fall runways!), I dedicated a lot of time to scouring the 'net for secret treasures. Now I bring them to you in a mish-mash of awesome. Also, as a sidenote, if you ever want inspiration or want to feel seriously jealous of someone elses life, read Style Bytes. She has a potbelly pig as a pet and wears aprons. I *almost* got a penguin for a pet and I wear vintage Nikes. I think we could still be friends.

Here are my favorite spring dresses:

Last year, I watched a short film directed by Julia Stiles and starring Zooey Deschanel. It was amazing, and had lots of inspiring fashionable outfits. Check out part one of the film, called Raving.

If you need a musical shot in the arm, one that will sustain you for months to come and give you the insanely awesome indie hipster cred you so crave, check out Pase Rock:

I predict that Snowden will be one of those bands that will be headlining major tours in the next few years, but for now, they are unknown. You can be the one to introduce this music to your Scene friends:

If your eyes are aching for a mess of pretty things to look at, look no further:

This photo shoot is amazing. Spring has really sprung:

If you need to spark some creativity:

Here is the killer news of the year: Fashion Spot is now open to the public! I have waited so long for this!:
Fashion Spot for All!

If you dig the inimitable Agyness, then this should thrill you:
Henry Holland & Agyness Deyn’s Jewelry Line

I am digging this blog:
Sally Jane Vintage

That is all for now, my pretties. But these will be more regular and more awesome as the days wear on.

Can I just say that I have been waiting a real long time for you to update? ;)
Corporate job, huh? Looks like I need to call you, since I feel real out of the loop.
Looking forward to my OKC trip, whenever it happens!
