Mouret's Big Comeback

I can dig it. He works with a very simple color palette (black, grey, white), but the details he uses and the textures of the fabric give a unique look to every piece. I especially like the buttons, and the slightly nubby chav scarves.

Want to buy me this for my birthday?

Because it's too darn gorgeous to pass on (the top, not the celeb):

For the tech and music savvy

Leave it up to The White Stripes to come up with something so brilliant as a monikered flash drive. In a stroke of marketing genius, the Jack and Meg USB Flash drives come pre-loaded with The White Stripe's new album, Icky Thump.

This really is the ultimate fusion of technology and music! (Also, Icky Thump is a rillyrilly good album)

New Loves

Marcus Oakley's exhibit at Gallery Hanahou as part of the Summer Sanctuary show:

These yellow patent pumps that cost only $40 at H&M (why does the closest H&M have to be an 8-hour drive from me?!):

This faux fur beanie from Marc by Marc Jacobs:

Amy Stein's Photography:

Coco Rocha, famous model and dancer:

These gorgeous, green peep-toe mary janes by Christian Louboutin:

Brief Jerky

This gives whole new meaning to "edible underwear." Except, with this dazzlingly decorated pair of undies, you might come away with a mouthtful of rhinestones. I can't tell if these are for men or for women. At first glance, they look like men's undies because, well, they're made from beef jerky. But, what manly man wants to parade around in "Meat Couture" that's covered in sparklies? Not any manly man that I know!

A Random Collection of Things That I Want

Why am I posting this? Because, it's "Random Collection of Things That You Want Thursday!"

I covet The Coveted.

As you know, fashion bloggers read other fashion blogs all of the time. We need to keep up on what people are talking about. Sometimes, if too many people are talking about one subject, it helps *me* to stay away from it, else I'd be reinventing the wheel (the Erin Fetherston collection at Target is a good example of a horse thoroughly beaten). I click through at least 10 a day, always visiting my favorites regularly, and I am always excited to find new bloggers (I'm rather shocked at how young some of them are, but they still know their stuff!). I have a favorite blog and I think you should check it out if you haven't already: The Coveted. It's run by the sweetest girl ever who has a fabulous personal sense of style (she always posts pictures of her daily outfits), impeccable taste in art and culture, and an amazing ability to sniff out emerging trends. Jenine is definitely my go-to girl. Give some love to her and go visit her divine blog!

It's Kind of Sad...

because I am a grown-up (I guess) and I am totally coveting this room from the Delia's catalogue:

*Click the picture for larger images*

I will say one thing for myself: my adoration of owls far preceded the current owl trend. Also, my walls are a weird green color (see some not-terribly-current pictures of my room here), so the blue/red/white combo would look really bad.

I mean, the look is completely okay for a dorm room (for which the look was intended, I'm sure), but I will admit that those cute kitschy little owls made my heart stop a little.

Do you live in NYC?

If so, you are one lucky son of a gun. As a vintage fashion hound, I've long been an admirer of Paul Poiret and his fantastic designs. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is displaying an amazing exhibit aptly titled Poiret: King of Fashion. It runs until August 5 (my birthday!). So get your sexy, Louboutin-wearing selves to the museum and check it out.

For more information on Paul Poiret, read this far too brief Wikipedia article.

I've been posting about footwear a lot

Berate me as much as you want, but I am dying to buy these sandals:

Are they completely hideous? Am I blinded by a need for trendy footwear My argument for buying them is that they'll cover up my thin ankles. :)

The T-Strap Remedy

There is something admittedly alluring about t-strap shoes. I have always been facinated by them. Their wearers are most often bold and glamorous women. Maybe it's the added *ahem* bondage, keeping the feet strapped so tightly in place that makes them look so sexy. But, alas, I have been cursed with height that makes wearing heels above 1 inch almost unbearable. Standing at right under 6 feet, I tend to shy away from shoes that aren't completely flat. From time to time, I'll go with a low wedge or kitten heel, but flats are my shoe du jour. Lacoste, in their remarkable genius, has finally made it possible for me to get away with t-strap shoes that don't threaten to have me towering over others more than I already do. Three cheers for Lacoste!
