I was reading about the exhibit here and here, and the first article stated, "Thought of in two parts, this event will be a retrospective of the designer’s work and also a unique threefold experience of his creative work: visual, tactile and corporal." This is a very good way to describe the experience of viewing the dresses (I'd do almost anything to be able to see them in person!). I was stunned at the exquisite beauty of the exhibit, but at the same time taken by it's simple aesthetic. It's as if Yamamoto has the dresses come alive. They appear to be larger than life, hovering ethereally over the musuem, or quietly staring out of windows, floating, standing, posing, contemplating. It's as if they have been imbued with life. Look for yourself!

Special thanks goes to Perpendicular for her wonderful detective work!

I quite like the third one, and the green coat.
Absolutely exquisite. I love all of the dresses, but the green one is my favorite. The design seems so ordinary, yet it grabs my full attention. Thanks for sharing!
Stunning..thanks for the inspirational pics!
I don't know what to say other than inspirational. Yohji Yamamoto's designs can get a little crazy but mostly they are just .. gorgeous. Always look forward to reading your posts!
